Diamond in the Rough Recovery was founded by Heather O’Neil and offers individual coaching services, Outpatient services, and individual therapy for those struggling with alcohol and drug dependence. Our focus is on gaining and maintaining not only sobriety but building a strong recovery in all areas of life.

Meet the Team

Founder

Heather O'Neil

Heather O’Neil comes to the recovery field with extensive training in reaching her own personal goals. She has overcome her own demons of drugs, alcohol, obesity, trauma, and codependency. Heather is a graduate of the intense Haven/Peer 1 program where she began to understand how to lead, love, and support those in recovery. She has completed a prison and parole sentence where she experienced the power of humility, kindness, and forgiveness. She has also lost 115 pounds in her journey and is passionate about helping others mine and value the gems deep within themselves. Heather has built three businesses while pursuing her own recovery where she learned to be goal orientated, driven, and impact lives. Her enthusiasm for helping others achieve their deepest desires and repairing family relationships is contagious. Heather believes in the power of the spoken word, putting a vision in front of you, surrounding yourself with those who can help you reach it, and taking the courageous actions to live your vision!

Luke Szymanowski

Luke is a firm believer in positive
affirmations and the power of mind. After multiple incarcerations and dark days of drugs and alcoholism, Luke has made peace with himself and the child within. Focusing on positives in situations molded with a desire to get his life in order, he has decided its time to give back. Using empathy, he can identify with others going through similar situations. "No one has to go it alone, its the dawn of a new age and time to be the best we can be not only for our friends and family but most importantly for ourselves."

Holly Simpson, CAS

Holly Simpson Has been practicing in the addiction recovery field since 2008. She has 14 years in many different levels of care including
detox services, residential treatment, PHP, IOP, OP, and MAT services with a variety of different client demographics. Holly’s primary therapeutic method is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Schema Therapy, and is well versed in a multitude of curriculums related to the field and teaching group therapy.

Craig Tyson

Craig has real experience in changing lives. He was once homeless, in trouble with the law, and dealing with a host of medical issues. Now is life has done a complete turn around. He will be done with probation in a week (3/21/23), has a roof over his head, and has all of his medical issues under control. He has taken the steps needed to change his life and is ready to offer suggestions to clients he works with.

Marlo Elliott

Marlo Elliott is a certified peer support specialist and a 200 hour registered yoga teacher. Marlo has overcome her addiction from alcohol and drugs. Yoga and meditation are a huge part of her recovery journey. Marlo specializes in breathing exercises, restorative yoga, and a Vinyasa yoga. Marlo wants to share all of the benefits of the breath and physical movement with others. Marlo is originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she has been in Denver Colorado for over 20 years. Her sobriety journey started over three years ago.

Clinical Director

Dr. Lacey Berumen

Dr Lacey Berumen Received her PhD from Capella, Her Masters from Regis and Her Bachelors from UOP. She has been practicing in the Behavioral Health Field for over 25 years. She served 3 Governor's through appointment to Behavioral Health Committees . She served on the Nation Board of Directors of the National Alliance on Mental Illness for 6 years 5 in executive committee roles. She served as the ED for NAMI Colorado for 6 years. She has also served in The US Air Force and as a Americorp Fellow. Lacey has worked in all areas of treatment to include 17 years in the ER of a Level 1 Trauma Center. Lacey serves as our Clinical Director and provides supervision and therapy services.
